Mandate of the GVPDAC

  • To act as a consultative and advisory body to police agencies in the Greater Victoria area.

  • To help police officers better understand the diverse cultures, value systems, unique perspectives and conditions of the diverse communities they serve.

  • To bring together members of the diverse communities and police agencies in Greater Victoria with the aim of building and maintaining positive relationships.

Who We Are

The GVPDAC is comprised of community representatives along with police officers from the four municipal police agencies, two RCMP detachments and the Military Police. The police agencies are: Central Saanich Police Service, Oak Bay Police Department, Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Detachment, Saanich Police Department, Victoria Police Department, West Shore RCMP Detachment and the Military Police Unit - Esquimalt.

What We Do

GVPDAC members are committed to developing and maintaining positive relationships between individuals from diverse communities and police officers from local police agencies. The GVPDAC provides a direct personal and communication bridge between the diverse communities and all local police agencies.

We are a dedicated working committee, representative of the diversity in Greater Victoria including: race, ethnicity, language, education, religion, gender, culture, socio-economic, age, ability and sexual orientation.
